Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the BoostLectura app (“Application”), developed by Daniel Carvajal (“Service Provider”), offered as a Freemium service and provided “AS IS”. The Application is available on iPhone, iPad, and on Mac computers with Apple silicon.

1. Information Collection and Use

We collect several types of information to provide and improve our Application:

1.1 Personal Information

The Application may collect information you provide, such as when you register or use specific features. We use this to provide features, send notifications, and improve the service.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

We may collect device information, including device type, operating system, unique device IDs, and usage data. If you enable notifications, we store a push notification token for each of your devices so that we can deliver notifications to them.

1.3 What Stays on Your Device

The books you import, your reading position, highlights, notes, collections, and reading streak are stored locally on your device. We do not receive a copy of them, except for the limited and temporary processing described in Section 2 when you use an AI feature, and except for the copy stored in your own iCloud account when you enable Library Sync (Section 3).

2. User Content and AI Processing

This section explains how your documents and queries are handled when using AI-powered features (e.g., summaries, questions).

2.1 Document Privacy

Your documents stay on your device and are not uploaded automatically.

2.2 Cloud Processing

Documents are uploaded only when you use an AI feature. The Application securely transmits relevant parts of your document to our cloud provider (Google Cloud/Firebase) to enable search and analysis.

2.3 Data Handling and Deletion

  • Temporary Indexing: Processing is performed in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Deletion: Original files uploaded to intermediate storage (Firebase) are deleted immediately after processing.
  • No Long-term Storage: We do not maintain long-term storage of your documents on our infrastructure.

2.4 No Model Training

Our AI Sub-Processors are contractually prohibited from using your data to train their Large Language Models (LLMs) or for any other secondary purposes.

3. Library Sync (iCloud)

Library Sync is an optional feature that keeps your library consistent across the Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account. It is turned off by default and must be enabled by you in the Profile tab.

3.1 What Is Synced

When Library Sync is enabled, the following is synced:

  • The book files you have imported (PDF, EPUB) and their covers
  • Your reading position and reading progress
  • Your highlights and notes
  • Your collections and library organization
  • Your reading streak (see Section 3.6)

3.2 Where the Data Is Stored

Your synced data is stored in a private area of your own iCloud account. It is not stored on the Service Provider’s servers and it does not pass through our infrastructure.

The Service Provider cannot access, read, retrieve, or restore this data. Only you, through your Apple Account, have access to it. This data is handled by Apple in accordance with the Apple Privacy Policy and the iCloud terms that apply to your Apple Account, including Apple’s encryption in transit and at rest, and any additional protection you may have enabled on your Apple Account.

Synced data uses your personal iCloud storage quota.

3.3 Library Sync and AI Features Are Independent

Enabling Library Sync does not send your documents to the Service Provider or to any AI provider. The processing described in Section 2 happens only when you actively use an AI feature, whether Library Sync is on or off.

3.4 Turning Sync Off and Deleting Synced Data

  • Turning Library Sync off stops further syncing. The books and data already stored in your iCloud account are not deleted automatically, and remain available if you turn sync back on.
  • Signing out of iCloud, or removing your Apple Account from the device, disables Library Sync.
  • To delete the data already in iCloud, use the iCloud storage settings on your device. Because that data lives in your account, this deletion is under your control and is not something we can perform for you.
  • Deleting your BoostLectura account does not delete data stored in your iCloud account, and deleting your iCloud data does not delete your BoostLectura account. These are separate actions.

3.5 Purchase Information

Library Sync is unlocked with a one-time in-app purchase. Payment is handled by Apple; we do not receive or store your payment method or billing details.

3.6 Reading Streak

Your reading streak is kept consistent across your devices through your iCloud account whenever you are signed in to iCloud, independently of whether Library Sync is enabled. As with everything in Section 3, this stays within your own account and we have no access to it.

4. Third-Party Services and Sub-Processors

We use external tools to improve stability and functionality:

  • Google LLC: (Gemini Models, Cloud Infrastructure) - Privacy Policy
  • Firebase Analytics: To understand user behavior and improve the Application experience. Data collected is typically anonymized. Privacy Policy
  • Firebase Crashlytics: For stability monitoring and error reporting. Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat: For purchase processing - Privacy Policy
  • Apple Inc.: (iCloud) - Used for Library Sync and for your reading streak, as described in Section 3. Apple stores this data under your own Apple Account and not on our behalf; we have no access to it. Privacy Policy

5. Your Rights and Data Protection

5.1 GDPR Compliance (EEA Residents)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights to Access, Rectify, Delete, and Port your data. You may also object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.

These rights apply to the data we hold. Data stored in your own iCloud account through Library Sync is under your direct control and is not accessible to us; you can view, export, or delete it from your device and your Apple Account settings at any time.

5.2 International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on computers located outside of your jurisdiction (e.g., United States) where Google operates. If you use Library Sync, the location of your iCloud data is determined by Apple and your Apple Account, not by us.

5.3 Data Retention

  • User-provided data is retained while you use the Application.
  • Automatically collected data may be stored for up to 24 months.
  • Data synced through Library Sync is retained in your iCloud account until you delete it.

6. Security and Children’s Privacy

6.1 Security

We use physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your information. No system is completely fail-proof.

6.2 Library Sync Is Not a Backup Service

Library Sync is a convenience feature for keeping your devices consistent. It is not a backup service, and we cannot recover content that is lost, deleted, or corrupted in your iCloud account. We recommend keeping your own copies of any book that matters to you.

6.3 Children’s Privacy

The Application is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

  • Changes: We may update this policy periodically. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
  • Consent: By using the Application, you consent to this Privacy Policy.
