Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: August 3, 2026

These terms and conditions apply to the BoostLectura app (hereby referred to as “Application”) that was created by Daniel Carvajal (hereby referred to as “Service Provider”) as a Freemium service. The Application is available on iPhone, iPad, and on Mac computers with Apple silicon.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using BoostLectura (“Application”), you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree, do not use the Application.

2. Description of Service

The Application is a reading application that allows you to:

  • Import and read documents (PDF, EPUB)
  • Create notes and highlights
  • Search inside your books and organize your library
  • Ask questions about content using artificial intelligence
  • Generate summaries and search within documents
  • Optionally sync your library across your Apple devices using your own iCloud account (“Library Sync”)

Some features require cloud processing and may involve temporary uploads of user content.

3. User Accounts and Eligibility

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to use the Application. By using the Application, you represent and warrant that you meet this minimum age requirement.
  • You may register using Apple ID or Google.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account.
  • You must provide accurate and up-to-date information.
  • You are responsible for all activity under your account.

4. Credits, Purchases and Paid Features

4.1 Credits

  • The Application is free with basic functionality.
  • AI-related features require credits.
  • Credits can be purchased through In-App Purchases.
  • Credits are non-refundable once used.
  • Credits do not expire.
  • Credits are non-transferable between accounts.
  • Credits grant access to AI features while such features remain available.

4.2 Library Sync

  • Library Sync is an optional paid feature unlocked with a one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and there are no recurring charges.
  • The purchase is tied to the Apple Account used to buy it and can be restored on your devices using “Restore Purchases”, subject to Apple’s rules (including Family Sharing, where applicable). It cannot be transferred or resold to another user.
  • The purchase unlocks the feature within the Application. It does not include cloud storage: syncing uses your own iCloud account and your own iCloud storage quota.

4.3 General

Purchases are processed through the App Store according to Apple’s terms. Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with its refund policy.

5. User Content and Conduct

  • You retain ownership of any content you import into the Application.
  • You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you upload, process, or sync.
  • You must not upload illegal, harmful, infringing, or objectionable content.
  • Reporting and Blocking: The Service Provider reserves the right to remove content and block users who violate these terms or use the Application to generate or share harmful material.

6. Artificial Intelligence Features

6.1 Overview

The Application offers optional AI-powered functionality to help you generate summaries, ask questions about your documents, and improve your reading experience. These features are enabled via integrations with third-party Large Language Model (LLM) providers.

6.2 Third-Party Processing and Sub-Processors

To deliver AI functionality, we engage third-party service providers (“Sub-Processors”) who operate advanced LLMs. When you use AI Features, relevant content is securely transmitted to these Sub-Processors solely for the purpose of providing the AI functionality.

6.3 Types of Data Shared

When using AI Features, the following data may be shared:

  • Prompts and Queries: The text or questions you type into the AI interface.
  • Contextual Content: Relevant parts of the document you are currently reading to ensure accurate responses.

The Service Provider does not share your identifiable profile information (name, email, or billing details) with AI Sub-Processors. We recommend avoiding the entry of sensitive personal or confidential information into AI prompts.

6.4 No Training on User Data

Data submitted to AI Features is used solely to generate responses. Our Sub-Processors are contractually prohibited from using your data to train their models or for any other secondary purposes.

6.5 User Responsibilities and Accuracy

  • AI-generated responses are provided for informational purposes only.
  • Outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for certain uses.
  • AI outputs do not constitute legal, medical, financial, or professional advice.
  • You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying the content generated through AI Features.

6.6 Opting Out

Use of AI Features is entirely optional. If you prefer not to have your data processed by third-party AI providers, you may simply choose not to use the AI features within the Application.

6.7 Current Sub-Processors

We currently use the following providers to enable AI Features:

7. Library Sync

7.1 How It Works

Library Sync is optional and disabled by default. When you enable it, your books, reading progress, highlights, notes, collections, and reading streak are stored in your own private iCloud account so they can appear on the Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

7.2 Your Data Stays Yours

Synced content is stored in your own iCloud account. It is not stored on the Service Provider’s servers. The Service Provider cannot access, read, retrieve, restore, or delete this content on your behalf.

7.3 Requirements

To use Library Sync you need:

  • The Library Sync purchase (Section 4.2).
  • An Apple Account signed in to iCloud on the device, with enough available iCloud storage.
  • A network connection. Sync speed and completion depend on your connection and on Apple’s services.

If you sign out of iCloud or your iCloud account becomes unavailable, Library Sync is disabled automatically and the Application continues to work locally.

7.4 Dependency on Apple Services

Library Sync depends on iCloud, a service operated by Apple and governed by your agreement with Apple. We do not control its availability, performance, storage limits, pricing, or continuity, and we are not responsible for outages, delays, quota limits, sync conflicts, or changes made by Apple to these services.

7.5 Not a Backup Service

Library Sync is a convenience feature to keep your devices consistent. It is not a backup service. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of any content that matters to you. We cannot recover content that is lost, deleted, corrupted, or made inaccessible in your iCloud account.

7.6 Deleting Synced Data

Turning off Library Sync stops further syncing but does not delete data already stored in your iCloud account. You can delete it from your device settings, under iCloud storage management. Deleting your BoostLectura account does not delete your iCloud data, and vice versa.

7.7 Content You Sync

You are responsible for the content you sync and for ensuring you have the rights to store it. Do not use Library Sync to store or distribute content you are not entitled to.

8. Restrictions on Use

You may not:

  • Use the Application for illegal or unauthorized purposes.
  • Attempt to access systems or data you are not entitled to access.
  • Reverse engineer the Application.
  • Abuse the credit system or obtain credits fraudulently.
  • Circumvent or attempt to circumvent purchase or entitlement checks for paid features.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service.

9. Intellectual Property

  • The Application, including its design, code, trademarks, and non-user content, is the property of the Service Provider.
  • No rights or licenses are granted to you other than those necessary to use the Application.

10. Service Availability

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Services may be affected by third-party outages, maintenance, or external factors.

We are not responsible for delays, failures, or data loss caused by third-party providers or network issues, including iCloud and other Apple services.

If a paid feature becomes permanently unavailable for reasons within our control, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users through the Application or by email.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Application is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • We are not responsible for the loss of user content, including content stored, synced, or deleted through Library Sync in your iCloud account.
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid in the past 12 months.

Some jurisdictions may not allow certain limitations; in such cases, limitations apply to the fullest extent permitted.

12. Modifications

We may modify these Terms at any time.
Significant changes will be communicated through the Application or by email.
Continued use of the Application constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Previous versions of these Terms are listed at the end of this page.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if continued operation becomes impractical for any reason.
You may stop using the Application at any time.
